Sean Carroll
Sean Michael Carroll (b. 1966) is an American theoretical physicist working on quantum mechanics, cosmology, and the philosophy of science. He is the Homewood Professor of Natural Philosophy at Johns Hopkins University (since 2022, jointly in Philosophy and Physics & Astronomy), formerly a research professor at Caltech (2006–2022) and currently an external professor at the Santa Fe Institute. - Physics: foundations of quantum mechanics (leading many-worlds advocate, including the Born-rule derivation with Charles Sebens, 2018), dark energy and cosmology, the arrow of time (Carroll–Chen “spontaneous inflation” scenario), and the graduate textbook Spacetime and Geometry (2003).
