Another domestic SiC waveguide glasses debuts — priced at 8,800 yuan

On July 13, Hangzhou Qiuguo Plan Technology Co., Ltd. revealed via its official WeChat account that it has formally unveiled its self-developed Wigain Omnision (Developer Edition) — the world’s first mass-producible silicon carbide optical waveguide XR glasses. Users can currently experience AI image recognition, AI shopping, real-time translation, movie viewing and other functions through these glasses.

Qiuguo Plan was founded in 2021, focusing on AI interaction and XR hardware-system R&D, committed to building a next-generation human-machine interaction platform. Relying on a core technical team from Zhejiang University, it has accumulated more than 50 patents in fields such as optical waveguides and spatial computing. According to the company, this developer edition of the Wigain Omnision XR glasses has achieved several industry-level breakthroughs:

Optical breakthrough: the world’s first mass-producible silicon carbide full-colour waveguide module, combining 900 nits of eye brightness with a 50° super-large field of view, breaking the outdoor strong-light display bottleneck.

Omnidirectional perception: a three-channel environmental perception system (dual SLAM + RGB camera) achieving millimetre-level positioning in a 5 m x 5 m space.

Computing leap: a dual Qualcomm XR2 chip architecture at the glasses end and Station host provides 42 TOPS of total compute, supporting 90 Hz smooth interaction and local operation of 10-billion-parameter AI models, with Wi-Fi 7 guaranteeing zero-latency 4K transmission.

Open ecosystem: a developer platform empowering industrial remote operations and maintenance, educational training, digital cultural tourism and other scenarios, building a G-B-C full-domain application closed loop.

According to Qiuguo Plan CEO Shi Chunling, the global premiere of Wigain Omnision is an important milestone in Qiuguo’s internationalisation process. As the developer platform opens globally, silicon carbide waveguide technology will serve as Qiuguo Plan’s core optical engine, continuously empowering government-enterprise digitalisation and cultural immersion upgrades.

The SiC XR glasses have already opened pre-sale on Qiuguo Plan’s official website at a price of 8,800 yuan — while Meta’s earlier first AR glasses using a SiC waveguide, Orion, had a production cost of about US$10,000 (roughly 70,000 yuan), about 8 times the price of the former. In terms of parameters, the Wigain Omnision (Developer Edition) differs from Meta Orion in three major aspects — product weight, field of view and eye brightness — but in terms of price and practical effectiveness, Wigain Omnision has achieved significant cost reduction, indicating that SiC waveguides are gradually entering a “scale deployment” stage.

It is worth noting that AR/XR glasses and hardware manufacturers such as XREAL, RayNeo, Moldnano and Guangna Siwei are also accelerating their silicon carbide waveguide layouts. In the future, smart glasses using SiC waveguides will continue to increase, and with joint efforts from substrate makers and glasses makers, SiC AR/XR glasses are expected to accelerate into the consumer market.
