Wigain (Qiuguo Plan)

Scope. Hangzhou XR+AI company building silicon carbide (SiC) waveguide smart glasses — the first company to claim mass production of a SiC full-colour waveguide module (Wigain Omnision). It sits in the display-optics space covered by augmented-vision and the product landscape of smart-glasses; its display direction (Micro-LED for the 2026 model) connects to micro-led.

Overview

Hangzhou Qiuguo Plan Technology Co., Ltd. (brand Wigain; wigain.com) is a Hangzhou-based XR+AI company founded in 2021 and headquartered at Alibaba’s Binjiang Park campus. It develops XR glasses, wearables (TCM smart watch, smart ring) and digital-human / digital-trade applications. The company describes its core technical team as coming from Zhejiang University, with staff recruited from Tsinghua University, Google, Intel, Alibaba DAMO Academy, Huawei, NetEase Easysee, SenseTime and Hikvision, and reports 50+ patents in optical waveguides and spatial computing. Wigain Omnision (Developer Edition, 2025)

The company’s flagship: XR glasses claimed as the world’s first mass-producible silicon carbide (SiC) full-colour optical-waveguide glasses, launched as a developer edition with a global debut at Expo 2025 Osaka (China Pavilion, “Hangzhou Day” event, 11–13 July 2025). Pitch: outdoor-readable full colour (900 nits), a 50° field of view, on-device AI (10B-parameter models), and a developer ecosystem (G-B-C) for industrial, education and cultural-tourism applications. 4 2

Spec numbers vary across 2025 materials: refresh described as 60 Hz (product page) and 90 Hz (launch materials), positioning as millimetre-level (company) and centimetre-level (trade-expo profile), and the dual chips as “dual 8-core” (official) vs “dual Qualcomm XR2” (trade press). At launch the pre-sale price was ¥8,800 on the company store, while other coverage cited ¥12,000 e-commerce pricing offsettable with company digital collectibles. 4 5 2 3 6

Wigain Flow (2026)

Announced 16 September 2026: “the first fully self-developed full-colour AI smart glasses”, set for a global debut at the 5th Global Digital Trade Expo (Hangzhou) opening 23 September 2026. Design-led positioning (design lead Zhang Lei): aluminium–magnesium alloy + translucent TR90, geometric frame cuts, organic temple curves; comfort targets of no nose-bridge or ear pressure and an unobstructed sightline — “wear it and forget it exists”. Stated scenario focus: work, social and outdoor viewing — explicitly not an all-purpose device. The silicon carbide waveguide remains the company’s core optical direction; press expectation is a continuation of the Micro-LED + full-colour SiC combination, though FOV, weight, chipset and AI features were unannounced at time of writing. 7

Context: silicon carbide waveguides in 2026

Wigain is one node in the post-Orion silicon carbide pipeline (Meta’s 2024 Orion prototype demonstrated SiC waveguides at 70° FOV; Chinese suppliers SEEV, Moldnano, LLVision and Goeroptics, plus US substrate maker Coherent, are moving toward production). Wigain’s differentiation is integrating and pricing for volume: at ¥8,800 it is roughly an eighth of Orion’s reported ~US$10,000 production cost, which trade coverage read as SiC moving toward “scale deployment”. Independent technical analysis remains cautious — Karl Guttag’s September 2026 survey of five SiC waveguides found poor colour uniformity across all of them (dispersion + birefringence), plus cost/yield and eye-safety (brittleness) caveats — so the “mass-producible, consumer-ready” framing should be read as a company claim, not a verified state. 8 3
